In 2025, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) reported significant engagement with the local community, participating in more than 100 events and interacting with over 14,000 individuals. The airport connected with residents at various city gatherings such as Blues on the Green, ABC Kite Festival, and Mighty Texas Dog Walk. These activities allowed AUS representatives to share information about airport expansion plans and discuss amenities with attendees.
“Every time we greet people and say we are the airport, they perk up, give a big smile and say ‘we love the airport!’ ‘Swag?’ YESSS!” said AnaLau Cavazos, Community Engagement Specialist.
AUS also raised $33,976 for local causes through its AUS for ATX initiative. This program began in 2024 to coordinate charitable campaigns among airport staff. In 2025, efforts included supporting holiday toy drives and a food drive for federal partners during a government shutdown. The School Supply Drive at Circuit of the Americas provided supplies to 2,000 families and raised an additional $1,233 for further donations.
The Runway to Opportunities event attracted more than 250 attendees and registered 50 small businesses as City vendors. The event gave these businesses a chance to network with prime construction firms involved in the airport’s expansion project and learn how to participate in future contracts.
The City of Austin manages operations across multiple departments with more than 16,000 employees according to official sources. It promotes diversity and inclusion as core values to support its organizational goals while providing services such as budget preparation and community initiatives through professional management structures. As part of its vision for sustainable development and livability outlined online, these efforts reflect ongoing priorities throughout municipal programs.
Airport officials expressed optimism about building on this momentum into the coming year: “2025 was a big year for connecting with our community, and we look forward to what 2026 will bring as the journey continues!”
