The City of Austin is set to develop a new segment of an urban trail in Southeast Austin. This initiative aims to offer an alternative route for students traveling to Linder Elementary School, either by bike or on foot.

Austin City Council has sanctioned the purchase of a 5.4-acre property for $1.34 million located along Metcalfe Road and Burleson Road. This development is part of Austin’s Safe Routes to School program. Apart from facilitating access to Mabel Davis Park, the project will enhance the existing surface trail alongside Country Club Creek.

Funding for the land acquisition is sourced from the Parks and Recreation Department, Watershed Protection Department, Transportation and Public Works Department, and Austin Water.

In addition, the Austin City Council has approved a wastewater improvement contract for Country Club Creek. This project will upgrade wastewater and water infrastructure and introduce new surface greenbelt, lighting, and concrete trails in the vicinity.
