Austin police investigate city’s 33rd traffic fatality of the year

On May 4, 2025, officers from the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a single-vehicle crash at approximately 12:59 p.m. in the 4600 Block of East William Cannon Drive. The driver involved, identified as Samuel Rosa, a Hispanic male born on September 11, 1958, was transported to a local hospital. He was later pronounced deceased on May 17, 2025.

The incident is under investigation as Austin’s 33rd fatal crash of the year, contributing to a total of 37 fatalities so far in 2025. In comparison, by this date in 2024, there had been 24 fatal crashes resulting in an equal number of deaths. The investigation into this latest crash remains ongoing and the details may be subject to change.
