Austin police investigate fatal traffic accident on FM 969 Rd

On May 17, 2025, at around 9:19 a.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 7400 block of FM 969 Rd. The incident resulted in the death of Diana Hernandez Campuzano, a Hispanic female born on March 5, 2007. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both drivers involved in the collision and another occupant from one of the vehicles were transported to local hospitals with injuries that are not life-threatening. This crash marks Austin’s 31st fatal accident of the year, leading to a total of 35 fatalities. In comparison, by this date in 2024, there were also 35 deaths due to fatal crashes.

The investigation into this crash is ongoing. “These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash, and the investigation is still pending,” stated an APD representative. It was noted that “fatality information may change” as more details emerge.
