Austin Police investigates road rage incident leading to homicide on Scenic Brook Drive

On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at approximately 6:40 p.m., officers from the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a report of a disturbance in the 6900 block of Scenic Brook Drive. The incident was described as a road rage event, resulting in a Hispanic male, aged 44, being found with life-threatening injuries. The injured individual was taken to a local hospital but was pronounced dead on Friday, April 18, 2025, at around 1:41 p.m.

APD officials have noted that the deceased’s identity remains confidential as investigations continue. The 57-year-old White male involved in the incident is not expected to face criminal charges at this time.

Police have confirmed that this is an isolated incident, asserting that there is no threat to the public at large. They are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch with the department. Those with information are encouraged to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS. Information can also be provided anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program via their website austincrimestoppers.org or by phoning 512-472-8477. There is a possibility of a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.

This event marks the 17th homicide in Austin for the year 2025. Investigators continue to work on the case, seeking further details from possible witnesses.
