Austin records its 14th homicide in 2025 with a shooting on N. Lamar Blvd

On Saturday, April 12, 2025, a shooting occurred at an apartment complex on 12612 N. Lamar Boulevard in Austin. The Austin 9-1-1 received a call regarding the incident at approximately 4:40 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive male in the parking lot, later identified as Henry Martinez, a Hispanic male born on August 8, 1994, with apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency services pronounced Mr. Martinez deceased at 4:52 a.m.

Authorities, including Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists, were dispatched to the scene to gather evidence and speak with witnesses. The preliminary results of the investigation reveal that Mr. Martinez approached his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle wielding a pickaxe. He was subsequently shot by a man inside the vehicle. This incident is currently under investigation.

Officials have classified this case as Austin’s 14th homicide of 2025. The police are appealing for further information to aid in the ongoing investigation.
