The investigation is still in progress, with detectives working diligently to determine the details surrounding the event. “We urgently need the community’s help to piece together the missing details,” says APD. They specifically seek information from individuals present in the area of the 2600 block of Aldrich Street on the night of the incident, around 9:30 p.m. Additionally, any photographs or video footage that could aid the investigation are being solicited.

The incident occurred when APD officers responded to numerous reports of a shooting in the parking garage at the given address. On arrival, they found two individuals, Kendrick Parker and Shamar Roach, deceased from gunshot wounds. Subsequent investigations indicated that the incident began as a child custody dispute between Parker, Roach, and another group consisting of a male and a female. The altercation escalated to physical violence, resulting in the male suspect shooting both Parker and Roach.
Authorities detained the suspects but have not filed charges yet, as the investigation is still active. The incident has been classified as Austin’s 18th and 19th homicide of the year.
Investigators urge other witnesses to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS or anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers, with a reward offered for leads resulting in an arrest.
