Austin Parks and Recreation will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly redeveloped Givens Pool on Saturday, June 7, at 10 a.m. The event will take place at 3811 E. 12th St. This pool has been an integral part of the historically African American community for over half a century.

The need for improvements was identified in the Aquatic Plan of 2018, leading to its closure in 2019 due to leaks in the pool shell. The redevelopment includes several new features: a lap lane pool, zero-entry activity pool for toddlers, spray ground features, a diving board, bathhouses, family restroom facilities, a training/party room, picnic pads with shade structures, and aquatic office space.

Further details about the project can be found at AustinTexas.gov/GivensPool.
