Michael McCaul, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 10th district since 2005, recently expressed his views on several important issues through a series of tweets. Born in Dallas, Texas in 1962 and residing in Austin, McCaul graduated from Trinity University with a BA and later earned a JD from St. Mary’s University.
On May 8, 2025, McCaul highlighted his longstanding concerns about Confucius Institutes (CIs) by stating: “For years, I’ve sounded the alarm about the threat of Confucius Institutes, which the CCP uses to expand their intelligence apparatus & indoctrinate our youth. At my urging, @TAMU & other TX schools made the wise decision to protect their students by closing their CIs in 2018.”
In another tweet on the same day, McCaul shared his pride over passing legislation related to national security: “Proud to pass @RepPfluger’s DHS Restrictions on Confucius Institutes & Chinese Entities of Concern Act, which will push other schools follow TX’ lead. This bill is a huge win for national security — bringing us one step closer to shutting down malign CCP influence on campuses.”
Later that day, he commented on international relations and economic cooperation between nations: “The Ukrainian parliament’s unanimous ratification seals our nations’ economic cooperation, underscores the importance of this historic agreement, and allows us to continue moving toward the final goal: peace across Europe and beyond. Congratulations, President Trump and https://t.co/G2Zt39qdGv“
