To address public safety concerns during Memorial Day Weekend, Austin Parks and Recreation will implement changes to parking operations at Commons Ford Ranch Metropolitan Park. The decision aims to ensure that emergency and staff vehicles can safely access the area during this busy holiday period.

Starting Saturday, May 24, parking within the park will be restricted to designated areas only. Park Rangers will be present to manage traffic flow and inform visitors about these operational changes. Parking outside the park’s gated entrance is prohibited, and vehicles found along Commons Ford Road will face towing.

Visitors are encouraged to carpool whenever possible. Once parking capacity is reached, no further vehicles will be allowed entry. These modified parking rules will remain in effect from May 24 through Memorial Day on Monday, May 26, 2025.

Austin Parks and Recreation also reminds visitors to adhere to Leave No Trace principles: plan ahead, dispose of waste properly, leave natural objects as they are found, respect wildlife, and be considerate of others. This collective effort is crucial for maintaining Austin’s parks and preserving natural spaces for future enjoyment.
