On May 25, 2025, at around 10:28 p.m., officers from the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a collision between a pedestrian and a motor vehicle on the 11000 block of Research Boulevard NB. Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified male pedestrian who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver involved in the incident stayed on-site, showed no signs of impairment, and is cooperating with authorities.

This event marks Austin’s 37th fatal crash in 2025, bringing the total number of fatalities to 41 for the year. Comparatively, by this date in 2024, there had been 31 fatal crashes resulting in 32 deaths. The investigation into this incident remains ongoing. “These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash,” stated APD officials. They further cautioned that “fatality information may change” as investigations continue.
