The City of Austin Housing Department has inaugurated a new mixed-income housing community named June West, developed in collaboration with Saigebrook Development and O-SDA Industries. This development is located at 1200 W. Koenig Lane and offers studio, one, two, and three-bedroom units for families with incomes at 30%, 50%, 60%, and 80% of the median family income (MFI). The property spans 1.13 acres and includes amenities such as a children's playroom, a clubhouse with a community room, a cyber lounge, a fitness center, and bicycle parking. All common areas are accessible to persons with limited mobility.

“The June West development shows our commitment to offering various affordable housing choices that meet the needs of all Austinites,” stated Mandy DeMayo, Interim Director for the Housing Department. “By offering housing options for diverse income levels, this community enriches North Austin and provides sustainable living spaces for residents to take pride in.”

Construction began in September 2022 following approval for a loan agreement with the Austin Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC). The project received $3.7 million from AHFC through General Obligation Bonds from 2006 and 2018, as well as the Rental Housing Development Assistance program. Additional funding came from Low-Income Housing Tax Credits provided by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs with assistance from Hudson Housing Capital. Further financial support included loans from Capital One, Legacy Bank & Trust, and the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation.

As part of its ongoing commitment to local public art, Saigebrook Development and O-SDA Industries commissioned local artists to create murals at June West.

June West also participated in the S.M.A.R.T. Housing program aimed at promoting housing production for low- and moderate-income residents by offering fee waivers for development permits in exchange for income-restricted units on-site. A requirement of this program is compliance with Austin Energy Green Building Program standards to ensure sustainable building practices.

The Austin Housing Finance Corporation expressed gratitude to all partners involved in realizing June West. Information about affordable housing resources can be found on their website.
