After 20 years of business, North by Northwest Brewing Co. in Austin is closing its doors permanently due to COVID-19. The brewpub will only be selling beer until supplies are out and its equipment was sold at auction last month.

Owner Davis Tucker told the Statesman that the decision was made because of the uncertainty of reopening because of the coronavirus.

“It’s been a great run, but we felt like we had to make the call sooner rather than later,” he told the publication. “We just don’t know how long (the city’s mandated closure) is going to last. We made the call now so our employees could move on in life.”

According to the Facebook post, brewpub is selling off its kegs of beers to customers, and those that have made orders can pick the kegs up starting on April 23.

There was an auction that was held on April 22 that sold off the company's equipment. Some of the equipment that was sold included tables, chairs, bar equipment, cookware, televisions, mugs and steins, freezers and more.

The brewpub opened in 1999.
