More than $1.34 million in Coronavirus Aid from CARES Act funding will be granted to Williamson County, U.S. Rep. John Carter (R-Texas) has said.

The CARES Act has provided $5 billion in supplemental Community Development funding. Rep. Carter says that the CARES Act, which he has supported since its inception, is essential for community leaders to combat the economic impact of the coronavirus.

“Six months ago when I supported the CARES Act, I knew how important it would be that the funding appropriated make its way to the local level,” Carter said. “Coronavirus has created challenges unique to each location, so I’m glad to see federal dollars put in the hands of local leadership to address their specific needs. This $3.1 million will go a long way in helping these communities navigate the unknowns caused by COVID-19.”

Additionally, the City of Killeen is receiving $726,841, the City of Temple is receiving $409,099, and the City of Round Rock is receiving $668,787.
