The upcoming event "La Mujer: Una Celebración de las Mujeres" presented by the Centro Cultural Mexicano Americano Emma S. Barrientos (MACC de ESB) is set to take place on Sunday, April 21st from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Galería de Arte The Catedral ATX located at 2403 E 16th St.

In its 13th year, the annual event aims to celebrate women and individuals who identify as women in the Mexican-American and Latinx community of Austin. "Este es un evento interior-al aire libre, así que por favor vestirse en consecuencia," as stated by the organizers.

For the first time, MACC de ESB has partnered with the Catedral gallery to create an intimate space where women can be seen, heard, and empowered. The event will feature mental health and wellness programming from organizations like Contigo Wellness and Austin Public Health, a market focused on Black, Indigenous, and People of Color from Frida Friday ATX, and visual art exhibitions curated by Monica Ceniceros from the Catedral gallery.

Monica Ceniceros, the curator of the Cathedral ATX, will showcase visual art at the event. Additionally, there will be keynote speakers and four workshops, including Sound Healing with Andrea Cortéz, a Rebozo Workshop with Irasema Reza-Bailey, a Somatic Writing Workshop "Reconnecting with the Body" with poet and author Leticia Urieta, and a family-friendly Sound and Movement workshop with Creative Action.

"Preinscríbase para los talleres en interiores en AustinTexas.gov/MACCLaMujer o en Eventbrite," encouraged the organizers for those interested in the indoor workshops. Other activities at the event will be open to all attendees without the need for prior registration or tickets.

Outdoor activities will include the Frida Friday ATX Artisan Marketplace featuring local businesses like Besitos Chamoy. There will be free outdoor activities for children, an "Open Pitch" for Austinites to talk about their businesses or organizations, and an "Open Mic" featuring emerging artists in music and poetry. Mental health resources will be available on-site along with food trucks, fresh beverages, outdoor seating, DJ music, and raffle prizes.

The event schedule will see doors opening at 1:00 p.m., workshops running from 2:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., and outdoor music performances and gallery viewing from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Food will be available for purchase at the Frida Friday ATX market and on-site food trucks.
