AFD Arson Investigators Make Arrest in Dumpster Fires

Arson Investigators with the Austin Fire Department (AFD) have arrested 60-year-old Richard Dale Price in connection with a series of dumpster fires that occurred on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Price has been charged in connection with two fires and is considered a person of interest in several others. The arrest took place after an AFD Arson Investigator observed Price near one of the fires and detained him without incident.

According to official reports, Price is facing different charges for his involvement in the fires. He is charged with a Class A Misdemeanor in one incident and with State Jail Felony Arson for the fire that caused around $10,000 in damages to the French Quarter restaurant. The investigation is ongoing to determine his involvement in additional cases.
