On November 25, 2024, at approximately 10:58 p.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a call regarding a shooting and stabbing incident at 414 East Wonsley Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered Xavier Jones Jr., who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound inside the residence.
The APD's Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists were dispatched to investigate the scene and gather witness statements. The preliminary investigation revealed that several unidentified individuals forcibly entered the apartment by shooting through the sliding glass door. During this intrusion, they shot and killed Jones before stealing jewelry from him and fleeing the location.
Authorities are seeking assistance from the public in identifying those responsible for this crime. Individuals with information are encouraged to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted anonymously via the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest.
This incident marks Austin's 65th homicide of the year.
