Austin announces registration dates for diverse summer camp programs

The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department is preparing for the upcoming summer camps, which cater to children aged 5 through 15. The department offers a variety of programs across the city. Detailed information about these camps can be found at AustinTexas.gov/SummerCamp.

Austin residents who qualify for financial aid have the opportunity to register early. This registration period starts on Saturday, February 1, at 10 a.m., and continues until Friday, February 7, at 6 p.m. Registration times vary depending on location, with options available in the evenings and on weekends.

Therapeutic Recreation Summer Programs aim to include all individuals by working with Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (CTRS) and Inclusion Aids. "Therapeutic Recreation Summer Programs embrace the diversity that defines Austin," ensuring participation for everyone. Registration for these programs opens for Austin residents on Saturday, February 15, at 10 a.m., while non-residents can register from noon on the same day.

Cultural and Arts Center Summer Camps focus on celebrating diversity and fostering an appreciation for the arts within the community. Registration begins for Austin residents on Saturday, February 22, at 10 a.m., with non-residents able to register starting at 2 p.m. Each child may be registered for up to three weeks.

Nature-based Summer Camps are offered at both Camacho Activity Center and Austin Nature and Science Center. These camps provide educational activities that promote environmental awareness. Registration opens for Austin residents on Saturday, February 22, at noon; non-residents can start registering from 2 p.m., with a three-week limit per child.

Community Recreation Center Summer Camps follow a youth development philosophy aimed at enhancing interests and skills through structured programming. Residents of Austin can begin registering on Saturday, March 8, at 10 a.m., while non-residents can start from noon.
