The Austin Police Department's Violent Crime Task Force has arrested two individuals in connection with a series of robberies. Andre Center, 47, and a juvenile suspect were taken into custody and charged with credit card abuse. Center is currently held at the Travis County Jail, while the juvenile is detained at the Travis-County Gardner Betts Juvenile Center. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
Authorities are seeking further assistance from the public to gather more information related to these incidents. The APD Robbery Unit encourages anyone with relevant video footage or information to reach out by calling 512-974-5092. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest.
The original appeal for public assistance was issued on December 31, 2024, following two aggravated robberies that occurred near Hyde Park in the 600 block of Maiden Lane on December 22 and December 24, respectively. During these incidents, multiple female victims were robbed at gunpoint by a suspect who fled on foot through the neighborhood.
Detectives have obtained images of the suspect during his escape and are requesting any additional doorbell or surveillance videos that might have captured him fleeing between December 22nd from 9:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and December 24th from 9:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., around Maiden Lane and W 35th Street.
