On January 24, 2025, at around 2:38 p.m., the Austin Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle crash at 10525 Wildhorse Ranch Trail. The incident involved a car that had collided with a fence and then ended up in a ditch. Reports indicated that the vehicle had been shot at before the crash.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds. One of them, identified as Victor Ekozeme, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim was taken to the hospital and released later that night.
Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists were called to investigate. Initial findings suggest that when the victims arrived at an apartment complex in their vehicle, suspects began shooting into their car. Mr. Ekozeme attempted to drive away but lost control due to his injuries. The suspects left the scene in another vehicle. It is believed that this was a targeted attack and an isolated incident.
The Austin Police Department urges anyone with information to contact them at 512-974-TIPS or submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477.
