Austin's Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HSEM) is organizing an Emergency Preparedness Pop-Up event at the Pleasant Hill Branch Library on February 19, from 3 to 6 p.m. This initiative is part of a monthly series held in each City Council District on the third Wednesday of every month.

The pop-up aims to equip residents with knowledge and resources for handling various hazards such as winter storms, extreme heat, flooding, and wildfires. Representatives from HSEM and other city departments will be present to provide tips, information, and supplies. The first 25 attendees will receive an emergency supply kit, limited to one per household.

The kits contain items valued over $100, including a backpack, lanterns, glow sticks, battery-powered chargers, NOAA weather radios, Neighborhood Preparedness Guides, and items for children and pets.

For more details about emergency preparedness or future events, visit HSEM’s digital hub at ReadyCentralTexas.org.
