Pflugerville City Council approves multiple surface water treatment projects

Fate

The Pflugerville City Council has approved approximately $200,000 for a Surface Water Treatment expansion project and several other water-based initiatives.

The project will be located by the Pflugerville Parkway and Weiss Lane intersection.

Garver will manage and coordinate the project, which is set to start on March 20 and finish on June 20. The project will consist of raw water characterization, a water treatment plant site, a conceptual processes feasibility study, process alternatives workshop, and a water supply alternative assessment. Once the project is completed, Garver will present it to the City Council on June 20.

After the presentation given by Garver in June, the city will start the design process for the water treatment plant and begin deciding on which engineer to hire for the project, City Manager Sereniah Breland said.

A supplement for the city's services agreement with DCS Engineering was also approved by the council. The agreement is for water treatment plant engineering services. This agreement is for $253,000. This project will be connected with the High Service Pumping Station expansion project, which will be by Wolf Pack Drive and Weiss Lane.

This project is intended to increase the city's SWTP capacity to 2024. It will also keep meeting requirements from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The agreement is for bidding and construction management services.

An $85,000 project agreement was approved for supplemental professional services with DCS Engineering. The company will give "emergency compliance and rehabilitation work" for Pflugerville's SWTP, such as plant flows and flow projections, water membrane trains and chemical systems.

Approximately $65,000 was also approved for another DCS Engineering agreement for another compliance and rehabilitation project. DCS Engineering will supply the same services to this project as it will to the $85,000 project.
