Installation of a Thomas Dambo Troll will soon be underway in Pease Park, as the project has received approval following an extensive community engagement and review process with the City of Austin. The Thomas Dambo team is scheduled to arrive in Austin in late February of 2024 to begin construction.

Thomas Dambo, a renowned artist and designer, is known for his unique approach to creating public art sculptures from recycled and reused materials. With a focus on sustainability, Dambo specializes in using wasted materials, such as scrap wood, to bring his creations to life. His work has gained international recognition, with more than 100 trolls installed worldwide.

The Pease Park Conservancy, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing the park, is fully funding and maintaining the Thomas Dambo Troll artwork. The Conservancy, in partnership with the Austin Parks and Recreation Department, aims to restore, enhance, and maintain the 84-acre public green space for the sustainable use and enjoyment of all.

Pease Park, spanning across 84 acres owned by the City of Austin, is a series of connected green spaces along Lamar Boulevard. It stretches from West 15th to West 31st Streets, providing residents and visitors with a vast and natural amenity. Within Pease District Park, Kingsbury Commons is maintained, operated, and programmed by Pease Park Conservancy.

The installation of the Thomas Dambo Troll in Pease Park is set to be a significant addition to the park's artistic landscape. It will not only contribute to the cultural vibrancy of Austin but also serve as a testament to the city's commitment to sustainability and public art.

As the project gains momentum, excitement is building among the local community. Many are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the acclaimed artist and the transformation of Pease Park into a haven for art enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

In the words of the Pease Park Conservancy, "We are thrilled to bring Thomas Dambo's unique artistic vision to Pease Park. His ability to create captivating sculptures from discarded materials aligns perfectly with our mission of sustainability and preservation. This installation will further enhance the beauty and charm of this cherished public space."

With the support of the community and the dedication of the Thomas Dambo team, the Pease Park Troll is poised to become a beloved landmark in Austin, serving as a symbol of creativity, community engagement, and environmental consciousness.
