Pedestrian dies after collision; Austin records its 84th fatal crash in 2024

On November 23, 2024, at around 5:38 p.m., officers from the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a traffic incident at the intersection of West Koenig Lane and Allandale Road. The crash involved a pedestrian and a vehicle. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries on December 6, 2024, at 1:53 a.m. The driver involved in the accident remained at the scene, cooperated with authorities, and was not impaired.

This case marks Austin's 84th fatal crash of the year, resulting in 89 fatalities. By comparison, on the same date in 2023, there were 80 fatal crashes leading to 83 deaths.

The APD notes that these details are based on an initial assessment and that the investigation is ongoing. Consequently, information regarding the fatality may be subject to change.

The APD urges anyone with information about this incident to contact their Vehicular Homicide unit at 512-974-8111. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest.
