As Independence Day approaches, the City of Austin has announced the closure schedules for various facilities and services.

City of Austin Recreation Centers, Senior Centers, Museums, and Cultural Centers will be closed on Monday, July 4. However, city parks, playgrounds, tennis centers, and golf courses will remain open for their regular hours on Independence Day. If you're looking to cool off, you can find the hours of operation for city pools on the AustinTexas.gov/Pools website. For more information on facility closures, you can visit AustinTexas.gov/ParkClosures.

The Austin Public Library branches, Austin Central Library, and the Austin History Center will also be closed on July 4. However, library resources that are available remotely can still be accessed through the Austin Public Library website at library.austintexas.gov.

In terms of recycling, compost, and trash collection, all Austin Resource Recovery (ARR) services will be unaffected by the holiday. You can stay up to date with your collection schedules by downloading the Austin Recycles App for your Apple or Android device or by visiting austintexas.gov/page/my-collection-schedule.

Administrative offices will be closed on Monday, and the Recycle & Reuse Drop-off Center (RRDOC) will remain closed to the public for the time being. Updates on the status of the RRDOC and the availability of drop-off appointments can be found at austintexas.gov/dropoff.

Austin Energy Utility Customer Service Centers and the Utility Contact Center will also be closed on July 4.

Austin Public Health's testing and vaccine sites will be closed on Saturday, July 2.

The Austin Animal Center will be closed on Monday, July 4, but will return to normal hours of operation on Tuesday.

As the city prepares for holiday celebrations, the City of Austin is encouraging everyone to plan ahead and ensure a safe journey home. Austinites and visitors are advised to know their transportation options before leaving their homes. A list of options can be found at austintexas.gov/gethomesafe.

For any questions or information about city services, residents can call 3-1-1 or use the Austin 3-1-1 mobile app to submit service requests.

With these closures and schedules in mind, Austin residents can plan their Independence Day activities accordingly and enjoy a safe holiday.
