Two Austin Police Department (APD) patrol officers, Dalton Schroeder and Jason Wright, are being praised for their quick actions that saved the life of a young child who was choking on candy. The incident took place on Friday, February 16, 2024, at approximately 4:28 p.m. at 6865 East US 290 Highway Service Road EB.

Officer Schroeder's rapid response and utilization of his personal anti-choking device were crucial in applying lifesaving techniques to the child, ultimately bringing the child back to normal breathing.
