The City of Austin has announced the relaunch of the Warrant Amnesty program, aiming to assist individuals with unpaid citations and outstanding warrants. Starting on March 25 and running through April 19, this initiative will waive warrant fees for those who resolve active warrants. Clerk of the Court, Mary Jane Grubb, expressed excitement about offering the program again this year, emphasizing its importance in providing excellent customer service and improving public safety.
During this period, individuals can voluntarily visit any Austin Municipal Court or Community Court location without the risk of being arrested. Options such as payment plans, community service, and hardship waivers are available for those unable to pay immediately. The program specifically applies to active cases within the Austin Municipal Court or Downtown Austin Community Court, with last year's program successfully clearing more than 2,300 outstanding warrants and delinquent citations.
Multiple walk-in dockets are scheduled Mondays through Fridays, where judges and prosecutors will be present to review cases, discuss options, and issue necessary orders. No appointments are necessary during these walk-in dockets, and all services are provided free of charge. Spanish interpreters will also be available to assist individuals.
The schedule for walk-in dockets at the Municipal Court main location on 6800 Burleson Road includes morning and afternoon sessions on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, with an additional evening docket on Thursday. For those who do not require a meeting with a judge or prosecutor, a substation is available during operating hours at the North Center on 12425 Lamplight Village.
For Community Court cases, individuals can visit the Community Court location on 505 Barton Springs Road during specified morning and afternoon hours from Monday to Friday. Further information can be obtained by calling (512) 974-4800 or visiting austintexas.gov/court.
