AUSTIN, Texas – Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) will host a community Open House for neighbors and the traveling public to learn more about happenings at the airport, including ongoing and upcoming expansion and improvement projects through our Journey With AUS program.
"This will be our second annual community Open House. We’re carrying on a commitment to fostering meaningful relationships with airport neighbors," said Ghizlane Badawi, Chief Executive Officer for AUS.
Since the last Open House in January 2023, AUS has reached significant milestones across various fronts. This includes breaking ground on major construction projects, such as the West Gate Expansion, further progress on the Outbound Baggage Handling System, and the launch of exciting initiatives to enhance passenger experience.
"I am thrilled to see Austin-Bergstrom International Airport opening its doors to the community once again for this year’s Open House," said Vanessa Fuentes, District 2 Councilmember. "Our airport serves as more than just a transportation hub; it is a vital community asset, not only for District 2, but also for all of Austin and Central Texas."
Community members and the traveling public are invited to attend the come-and-go style Open House, where they can learn about Journey With AUS, hear directly from experts, and gain insight into what they can expect to see and hear at the airport in the future.
Attendees can enjoy food, listen to live music, engage in family-friendly activities, and take advantage of an on-site vaccine clinic, courtesy of Austin Public Health. This is a great opportunity for members of the community to learn more about how AUS is growing to meet the needs of Austin and Central Texas.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Montopolis Recreation Center and Community Center, located at 1200 Montopolis Dr. Free parking is available onsite, and attendees can also take transit with CapMetro’s Route 350 and Stops 3254 or 834.
For media representatives, airport leadership will be available for on-site interviews throughout the event.
