Traffic fatality reported at West Braker Lane and Research Boulevard

On Monday, May 27, at approximately 11:38 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at West Braker Lane and the Research Boulevard Northbound Service Road. The driver of an SUV was pronounced deceased on the scene. The passengers of the SUV and the driver of a sedan were all transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Ashlee Marie Pegram, a white female born on February 22, 1992.

This incident is being investigated as Austin's 32nd fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 33 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2023, there had been 40 fatal crashes resulting in 40 fatalities.

These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash, and the investigation is still pending. Fatality information may change.
