Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on North Lamar Boulevard

On Sunday, August 4, 2024, at approximately 2:08 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a collision between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the 10800 block of North Lamar Boulevard. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene. The vehicle involved did not remain at the location.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 49th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 52 fatalities for the year. On the same date in 2023, there were 56 fatal crashes resulting in 59 fatalities.

These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash, and the investigation is still pending. Fatality information may change.

Anyone with any information should contact APD's Vehicular Homicide unit at 512-974-8111. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
