Austin police seek public help in hit-and-run case involving motorcycle

The Austin Police Department is seeking public assistance in identifying the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident. The crash, which occurred on Monday, October 14, 2024, at approximately 5:33 a.m., took place near the intersection of Springdale Road and US 290 SVRD EB.

According to police reports, an unidentified pickup truck traveling eastbound on US 290-SVRD collided with a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries but has since been stabilized and released. The driver of the pickup truck did not stop to provide aid or contact emergency services and fled the scene immediately after the collision.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be offered for information leading to an arrest.
