The Austin Parks and Recreation Department, along with the Austin Parks Foundation, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Oertli Neighborhood Park on Friday, November 22, at 11 a.m. The event will take place at 12613 Blaine Rd. Attendees are advised to dress appropriately for the weather as it is an outdoor event.
The new park features several amenities including a loop trail that connects both entrances of the park, shade trees, a playground area with a pavilion, fitness equipment, a fenced off-leash area for dogs, and open spaces for play. Construction on the six-acre property began in December 2023 and concluded in November 2024.
Previously a vacant field divided by a row of trees, the site is now surrounded by single-family homes and apartments with access points from Blaine Road and Pearl Retreat Drive. Historically used as pastureland owned by the Oertli Family who operated dairy farms from 1923 to 2001, the park also includes a Texas Historical Marker.
The project was funded through Parkland Improvements Bonds from 2018 and Parkland Dedication Fees. Additional funding for shade pavilions came from the Austin Parks Foundation.
