On November 7, 2024, at around 4:34 p.m., officers from the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a shooting incident in the 2600 block of Rosewood Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a victim identified as Matthew Escalante with a gunshot wound. Mr. Escalante was taken to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead on November 8, 2024, at 3:20 p.m.
Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists were dispatched to process the scene and gather witness statements. According to the investigation, Escalante had come to meet someone when he was shot by an assailant who subsequently fled with other suspects.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding these suspects to step forward. The Austin Police Department can be contacted at 512-974-TIPS for any tips related to this case. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest.
