Pedalcyclist dies in traffic collision on Montopolis Drive

On November 11, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a tragic incident occurred in the 400 block of Montopolis Drive. The Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedalcyclist. Unfortunately, the pedalcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries, showed no signs of impairment, and remained at the location.

This case marks Austin's 77th fatal crash of the year, leading to 82 fatalities. On the same date in 2023, there were 77 fatal crashes resulting in 80 fatalities.

The APD noted that these details are part of an initial assessment and are subject to change as investigations continue.
