Beginning on Monday, January 8, 2024, Deep Eddy Pool will temporarily close its doors to undergo some much-needed repairs and improvements. The closure is expected to last for approximately eight weeks, with the pool tentatively set to reopen in early March.

The main focus of the renovation project is the replacement of a damaged bulkhead, which is a crucial component of the pool's infrastructure. In addition, the pool will undergo upgrades to its older deck lighting, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable experience for swimmers and visitors.

The decision to schedule the repairs during the winter months was made in order to minimize the impact on public use. By closing the pool during a time when outdoor swimming is less popular, the hope is that the inconvenience to pool-goers will be kept to a minimum.

To provide the community with additional access prior to the closure, Deep Eddy Pool has decided to cancel its scheduled maintenance day on January 2, 2024. This means that the public will have one extra day to enjoy the pool before it temporarily shuts down. The pool will be open for its normal business hours on that day.

As the construction progresses, any changes to the closure schedule will be promptly communicated to the public. Regular updates can be found on the Austin Parks and Recreation Department website at austintexas.gov/parkclosures. It is recommended that visitors check the website regularly for the most up-to-date information regarding the closure and reopening of Deep Eddy Pool.

In the meantime, the Austin Parks and Recreation Department encourages residents and visitors to explore the other wonderful recreational opportunities that the city has to offer. From hiking and biking trails to other swimming pools and water parks, there are plenty of options available to stay active and enjoy the outdoors during the closure of Deep Eddy Pool.

In the words of the Austin Parks and Recreation Department, "We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of Deep Eddy Pool. We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable swimming experience for everyone, and these improvements will help us achieve that goal."

So mark your calendars and plan your swimming adventures accordingly, as Deep Eddy Pool prepares to undergo these much-needed repairs and upgrades.
