The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for another exciting summer of accessible and inclusive summer camps. Starting on February 10, Austin residents will have the opportunity to register for a variety of summer programs catering to different interests and needs.

For those seeking financial aid or adaptive and inclusion support programs, early registration will open on February 10 at 10 a.m. and will continue until the close of business on February 17. Registration times may vary depending on the location, with evening and weekend options available. This early registration period is exclusively for Austin residents.

According to the department, therapeutic summer programs aim to embrace the diversity that defines Austin and ensure that all individuals feel accepted, included, and welcomed. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (CTRS) and Inclusion Aids will be present to provide assistance and support. The registration for therapeutic summer programs will also open on February 10 at 10 a.m. and will close on February 17. Non-Austin residents can register for these programs starting on February 24 at 2 p.m.

For those interested in exploring visual and performing arts, culture, and history, the summer camps offered will provide opportunities to preserve and protect the past, celebrate Austin's diversity, and develop an appreciation for the arts. Austin residents can register for these camps starting on February 24 at 10 a.m., while non-Austin residents can register starting on February 24 at 2 p.m. It's important to note that participants are limited to registering for a maximum of three weeks per child in these camps.

Nature enthusiasts will also have the chance to participate in nature-based summer camps that combine educational and recreational activities focused on increasing appreciation for the natural environment and fostering a conservation ethic. Austin residents can register for these camps on February 24 at 12 p.m., while non-Austin residents can register starting on February 24 at 2 p.m. Similar to the culture and arts camps, participants are limited to a maximum of three weeks per child in nature-based summer camps.

Lastly, community recreation center summer camps will offer a youth development philosophy, providing opportunities for children to enhance their interests, skills, and abilities through intentional programming and quality experiences. Austin residents can register for these camps starting on March 2 at 1 p.m., with non-Austin residents being able to register starting on March 2 at 3 p.m.
