APD Detectives Search for a Suspect in Connection to Shoplifting

The Austin Police Department (APD) is seeking the public's help in identifying a man who is suspected of shoplifting merchandise from the Sprouts store located at 1201 Barbara Jordan Boulevard. The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

According to APD, the suspect, described as a Middle Eastern man in his mid-30s with a thin build, was seen grabbing several items and leaving the store without making any payment. The suspect was last seen wearing a Buck's Jersey underneath his jacket. It is believed that the suspect may frequently visit the IH 35 and Rundberg area.

The suspect left the scene in an older model Honda Accord, specifically a 2005 silver one, which was being driven by another individual.

APD has released a photo and description of the suspect in hopes that someone from the public will come forward with information that could lead to his identification. Detective Jane Doe from APD stated, "We urge anyone who recognizes the suspect or has any information regarding this incident to contact us immediately. Your assistance is crucial in helping us solve this case."

Those with information can submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program. Tips can be submitted online at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477.
