Congressman Michael McCaul, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, recently appeared on "Fox News Sunday" to discuss the articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and current events in the Middle East. During the interview, Chairman McCaul expressed his concerns and provided his perspective on these issues.

Regarding the articles of impeachment against Secretary Mayorkas, Chairman McCaul emphasized his belief that the Secretary is responsible for the current situation at the border. He stated, "He knows better... This is not by accident, this is by design... I call him the 'architect of destruction.'" Chairman McCaul pointed out the alarming number of encounters and individuals on the terror watch list, as well as the deaths caused by fentanyl poisoning, which he attributes to Secretary Mayorkas. He argued that these actions constitute a breach of public trust and warrant impeachment.

Chairman McCaul also highlighted the importance of impeachment, stating that his constituents are angry about the situation at the border. He shared his firsthand experience visiting the border and witnessing the overflowing detention spaces. He expressed his belief that the current policy is unsustainable and causing significant harm to the state. He emphasized that the change in policy by executive fiat and the reversal of executive orders from the previous administration have contributed to the current crisis. Chairman McCaul urged President Biden to change these executive orders to address the border issue effectively.

When asked about the possibility of a border deal from the Senate being "dead on arrival" in the House, Chairman McCaul indicated that he could support a deal if it includes significant policy changes. He mentioned the importance of addressing issues related to Israel, the Indo-Pacific, and Ukraine. He expressed concerns about abandoning allies and surrendering to Putin in Ukraine, similar to what happened in Afghanistan. Chairman McCaul suggested that the Senate version of the deal might not be sufficient in the House unless it includes the policy changes he deems necessary.

Regarding the alleged participation of United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) employees in Hamas' October 7 attacks, Chairman McCaul highlighted the previous administration's decision to cut funding to UNRWA due to concerns about the agency's alleged involvement with Hamas. He stressed the need to investigate these allegations and expressed his support for cutting funding to UNRWA. He noted that the administration recently put a pause on the funding and that the agency will testify before his committee to provide answers.

In conclusion, Chairman McCaul's appearance on "Fox News Sunday" provided insight into his perspective on the articles of impeachment against Secretary Mayorkas and his concerns regarding the current events in the Middle East. He emphasized the need for accountability and policy changes to address the challenges at the border and the alleged involvement of UNRWA employees in Hamas' attacks. His remarks reflect the concerns and frustrations of his constituents and highlight the importance of effective and responsible leadership in these critical areas.
