APD's 2024 Spring Break DWI Enforcement Initiative

The Austin Police Department has announced their plans for the upcoming Spring Break holiday season and the Spring Festival. According to the department, "The Extended No Refusal period sponsored by Austin Transportation and Public Works Department will focus on gathering evidence in DWI arrests, will go from March 7th until March 17th."

Describing the initiative, the Austin Police Department stated, "This initiative is an effort to enforce DWI laws, keep the public safe by encouraging drivers to make responsible decisions, and to apply for blood search warrants on suspects who refuse to provide a breath or blood specimen as required by law."

Highlighting their commitment to public safety, the Austin Police Department emphasized, "The Austin Police Department and the City of Austin Transportation and Public Works Department are continuously focused on preventing lives from being lost on the streets, highways and waterways of Austin."

The Department aims to make the roadways and waterways of Austin safe for residents and visitors through education and enforcement during the upcoming Spring Break period.
