APD's 2024 Spring Break DWI Enforcement "No Refusal" Initiative Results

The Austin Police Department (APD) recently concluded its DWI Enforcement and 'No Refusal' Initiative during Spring Break, with significant outcomes to report. Between March 7th and March 17th, the operation led to a total of 55 DWI arrests linked to driving under the influence.

During this period, the enforcement actions resulted in a breakdown of arrests: 19 were made through blood search warrants, 24 through breath samples with consent, and 14 through blood samples with consent. Furthermore, specific charges were identified within these arrests, including Consent Breath Samples over .15v, Class A Misdemeanor DWI (with prior conviction), Felony DWI (2 or more prior convictions), Felony DWI Child Passenger, and Intoxication Manslaughter.

Emphasizing their commitment to public safety, the Austin Police Department, in partnership with the City of Austin Transportation Department, remains steadfast in their efforts to safeguard lives on Austin's streets, highways, and waterways. A spokesperson stated, "The Austin Police Department and the City of Austin Transportation Department continue to focus on preventing lives from being lost on Austin's streets, highways, and waterways. The Department is dedicated to making the roadways and waterways of Austin safe for residents and visitors through education and enforcement."
