Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a tragic incident on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at approximately 4:15 p.m. A crash involving a pickup truck and an SUV occurred in the 12300 block of Technology Boulevard, resulting in the death of Braden Norman, a passenger in the pickup truck.

According to an unnamed source, "This incident is being investigated as Austin's 11th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 11 fatalities for the year." This marks a somber statistic for the city's road safety record in the current year.

It is noted that on the same date in 2023, there were 16 fatal crashes that led to 16 fatalities, as highlighted by another unnamed source. This comparison underscores the ongoing challenges and risks associated with traffic accidents in the region.

The investigation into this particular crash is still ongoing, and details may evolve as more information becomes available. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to reach out to APD's Vehicular Homicide unit at 512-974-8111. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program via their website or by calling 512-472-8477.
