AUSTIN, Texas – The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) announced today that SkyWest Airlines will establish a new flight crew base at the airport this summer. This development is expected to enhance AUS’s status as a major aviation hub in Central Texas.
“We are thrilled to welcome SkyWest’s flight crews to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport,” said Ghizlane Badawi, CEO of Austin-Bergstrom. “The addition of AUS as a crew base supports the continued growth and vitality of our airport. This new crew base will not only benefit SkyWest’s operations but will also further our AUS’s rising role as an airport of national significance as we continue to grow to meet the needs of our airline partners and travelers.”
"We’re excited to open SkyWest’s 20th crew domicile at AUS in June,” said Greg Wooley, SkyWest’s Executive Vice President of Operations. “SkyWest’s crew members enjoy more opportunity and flexibility than those at any other regional, and we look forward to continuing to improve and enhance our operations at AUS and beyond.”
The airline's AUS flight crew base will primarily support its flights on behalf of Delta utilizing the Embraer E175 jet. The launch will begin with a temporary crew space at the airport in June, with a permanent space anticipated later this year.
SkyWest Airlines, a subsidiary of SkyWest, Inc. (NASDAQ: SKYW), is the world’s largest regional airline and operates through partnerships with Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, American Airlines, and Alaska Airlines. Last year, it carried more than 38 million passengers.
