Austin police seek public help in identifying suspects linked to Waffle House homicide

The Austin Police Department (APD) Homicide Unit is seeking the public's assistance in identifying four suspects involved in a homicide. The incident occurred at approximately 6:01 a.m. on June 8, 2024, at a Waffle House located at 12304 Dessau Road.

According to APD, the four suspects are believed to have shot two victims following an argument with the group that the two victims were with. One of the victims was fatally wounded. The suspects subsequently fled the scene.

The suspects are described as Hispanic males with short black hair, possibly between the ages of 16-20.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $2,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.

On June 8, 2024, at approximately 6:01 a.m., APD officers responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of the Waffle House at 12304 Dessau Road. Upon arrival, officers located Tykeisha Lewis with an apparent gunshot wound. Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (A/TCEMS) transported Ms. Lewis to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased at 8:21 a.m. Another female victim was also struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital; she is reported to be in stable condition.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists processed the scene and interviewed witnesses. Investigations revealed that Ms. Lewis had been shot by a group of males who had been arguing with her group prior to fleeing the scene.

This case marks Austin's 25th homicide of 2024.
