On June 19, 2024, at approximately 1:03 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a call regarding an unknown nature. A male caller stated, “my wife is in the bedroom. I’m outside.” Upon arrival at 10613 Macmora Rd., officers located Suzanne Bailey, a White female born on February 12, 1966, inside the residence with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Austin-Travis County EMS (A/TCEMS) transported Ms. Bailey to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where she was later pronounced deceased at 9:10 a.m. Officers also found Joshua Lockwood, a White male born on May 30, 1971, in the backyard of the residence with a gunshot wound to his head. He was pronounced deceased on scene at 1:28 a.m.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists processed the scene and interviewed witnesses. The investigation revealed that Ms. Bailey had been shot by her husband, Mr. Lockwood, who then took his own life.

The Austin Police Department requests anyone with information to contact them at 512-974-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.

This case is being investigated as Austin's 26th homicide of 2024.
