The Austin Police Department (APD) Homicide Unit is seeking the community's assistance in solving the murder of 27-year-old D’Andre Isaiah Day. Mr. Day was found deceased on September 4, 2022, at the corner of 6th and Brazos streets. Detectives have determined that Mr. Day was involved in a disturbance near the intersection of 7th and Colorado streets, where he sustained fatal injuries.
Three persons of interest and a vehicle have been captured on video, along with three potential witnesses. These videos are available on APD’s Official YouTube Channel. Despite exhaustive efforts, detectives have not identified a motive for the killing but believe it to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public.
Detectives are requesting public assistance in identifying witnesses and persons of interest shown in surveillance footage previously released. They are also seeking information about a silver 2003-2005 Honda Accord believed to be connected to the case.

Tips can also be submitted via the Crime Stoppers App or by emailing homicide.apd@austintexas.gov. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
In the original release, it was reported that APD officers were flagged down at approximately 2:34 a.m. on September 4, 2022, at the corner of 6th St and Brazos St., where they found Mr. Day lying on the ground with life-threatening stab wounds. He was transported to a hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Specialists determined that Mr. Day had been involved in an altercation with three unidentified men when one of them stabbed him during what appeared to be a random street encounter.
Investigators continue their efforts and urge anyone who might have recorded or witnessed any part of this incident to come forward.
This case marks Austin's 53rd homicide investigation for the year 2022.
