Austin police seek public help in identifying suspect in emergency call interference

The Austin Police Department (APD) Criminal Investigations Division Unit is seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an incident where an employee's phone was taken while the employee was calling 9-1-1. The event occurred on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at approximately 10:01 a.m., at the Walgreen's located at 6812 North Lamar Boulevard.

According to APD, "the employee had to chase the suspect down to retrieve their phone back."

Anyone with information is encouraged to submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-TIPS. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
