APD seeks public help in identifying hit-and-run driver injuring child

The Austin Police Department Highway Enforcement Investigations unit is seeking public assistance to identify the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident. The crash occurred on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at approximately 6:32 p.m. near the intersection of West Slaughter Lane and Riddle Road.

A 7-year-old child was riding her bicycle with an adult when the crash took place. The suspect vehicle did not stop to render aid or call emergency services and left the scene immediately after the incident.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
