Michael McCaul addresses Texas rail project, border security, and Sudan crisis

Michael McCaul, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 10th District since 2005, recently shared his perspectives on several pressing issues via social media. He expressed his views on topics ranging from local transportation projects to international humanitarian crises.

In a post on April 15, 2025, McCaul expressed gratitude to Secretary Duffy for canceling a significant financial grant for a high-speed rail project in Texas. He wrote, "Extremely grateful @SecDuffy canceled the $64M grant for the failed Texas high-speed rail project. Texans’ hard-earned money shouldn’t be used to fund a project threatening their land. I’ll keep fighting to safeguard your tax dollars and your property rights."

Later the same day, McCaul addressed concerns over gang-related violence, attributing progress to specific law enforcement agencies. He stated, "Violent and brutal gangs like Tren de Aragua have no place in U.S. under this administration. Thankful for @POTUS, @ICEgov and @TxDPS’ dedication to securing our border and making our country safer each day."

On April 16, 2025, McCaul turned his attention to the crisis in Sudan. He highlighted the severe humanitarian conditions afflicting the region, referencing the ongoing conflict. McCaul shared, "The humanitarian crisis in Sudan has reached a fever pitch, with innocent Sudanese people facing widespread hunger, mass displacement, & rampant sexual violence. As we mark two years of this brutal war, I condemn the fighting & demand all parties immediately put an end to the"

Michael McCaul, who resides in Austin, was born in Dallas, Texas in 1962. He holds a BA from Trinity University and a JD from St. Mary's University, Texas.
