Parking: Free parking is available at the ACC Rio Grande Parking Garage, 816 W. 12th St., Building 4000. The garage is located at the intersection of Shoal Creek Blvd. and 12th Street.

“September is National Preparedness Month and it is a great time to take stock of your emergency plans and add to them as needed,” said Interim HSEM Director Bill Wilson. “We encourage everyone to come out to the Get Ready Central Texas Emergency Preparedness Fair, meet a lot of great partners, and get resources. Please take this opportunity to build up your plans and supply kits, plus review and provide input on the City’s basic emergency plan.”

The Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management will teach attendees how to make a plan, build a kit, stay informed, and help meet neighbors. Copies of the City of Austin Basic Emergency Plan will be available for review and public comment. Additionally, attendees will learn tips to prepare their home, family, and community for emergencies. A basic emergency kit will be available to those who attend while supplies last, with a limit of one per household. The Neighborhood Preparedness Guide will also be available so attendees can make a personalized emergency plan. Child-friendly games, sips, and snacks will be provided.

Interpreters will be available on-site in Spanish and American Sign Language. Other languages can be requested by contacting Austin 3-1-1 no later than five business days before the event.

Attendees can also learn about emergency preparedness resources from various partners.
