On Thursday, August 22, 2024, at approximately 8:35 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a call reporting a shooting in the 6300 block of Thurgood Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a juvenile male, later identified as Jeremiah Cavazos, with an apparent gunshot wound. Cavazos was pronounced deceased at the scene at 8:55 p.m.

Juvenile #1 fled on foot.

Juvenile #2 has been arrested and charged with Capital Murder. Juvenile #1 has been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder.
